February 2008 update: msmacRT (McHenry version of SMAC which was a part of rec-tec (RT)), including the graphics and animation programs, are no longer valid products and should not be used for any purpose whatsoever. Any use of these products is in violation of the licensing agreement and should be immediately discontinued. REC-TEC is no longer authorized to sell, support or market the msmacRT program.

Any use of msmacRT and the graphics or animations programs is no longer authorized and any use of these programs is software piracy.

Since February 2007 there is no licensing agreement and will never again be a licensing agreement between McHenry Software and REC-TEC and therefore msmacRT including the graphics and animations programs can no longer be legally used for any purpose whatsoever.

In February 2007, rec-tec 'severed all ties" with McHenry Software and rec-tec stated that they would no longer be offering or supporting msmacRT. msmacRT was an entry level version of SMAC.

rec-tec requested the arrangement and McHenry Software  agreed to license msmacRT to rec-tec for software reselling to provide an entry level version of SMAC.  msmacRT users were licensed on a yearly basis and a renewal was paid to rec-tec and passed on to McHenry Software to maintain a valid license. McHenry Software kept the software updated (msmacRT and graphics and animation) and McHenry Software has served as a reference point to rec-tec for technical questions about the software.

In November 2007 we served the following notice on rec-tec:

With the severance of all ties by rec-tec, McHenry Software can no longer support the software and the software is no longer licensed FOR ANY USE WHATSOEVER.

Currently rec-tec is marketing a program called smacRT. (there is no 'm' in front of the name). This is an separate program and product created by rec-tec and McHenry Software has no knowledge of the validity or fitness of this program. smacRT it not related to or endorsed by McHenry Software or msmacRT in any way whatsoever.
